Heat Embossing

Create a sticky surface (all supplies available in our embossing section) using an embossing pad for rubber stamps, embossing markers or even Scrappy Tape (basics - adhesives). After the area to be embossed is sticky cover the desired surface with embossing powder then tap or brush off the excess before using heat. This excess powder can be returned to the bottle for later use.

Preferably melt powder using a heat tool. Use smooth flowing motions rather than waving tool back and forth over the project. Keep the tool far enough from your project (about 1-2) so that you will not scorch it. Keep your fingers out of the way too. This is not a recommendation but in a pinch you may hold your project over a hot light bulb, an iron, or a toaster but be very careful and do not allow any of these hot items to touch you, your work surface or your project.

If you are embossing a tag with a metal rim, a brad, or anything made of metal use craft pliers as the metal will get hot. When embossing on metal products you may want to rough up the surface first using steel wool or sand paper.

Often paper thinner than card stock will warp from the heat. Try adhering it firmly to a piece of card stock with a good adhesive before embossing.
