Setting and Eyelets, ButtonTops, Snaps, Brads
-
The tool kit and setting mat are under tools in our basics section. Fasteners are found under fasteners in our embellishments section. Determine the size of a hole you will need by comparing the size of the cutters with the size of the fastener. Attach the appropriate cutting tip then place paper on your setting mat, then the tip on the paper where you want the fastener. Using your hammer drive the cutting tip through the paper and into the setting mat. Always use a setting mat to avoid damaging your table or desk top. Make a hole for each eyelet or snap you will be setting. Use the pick to remove residual paper from the tip.
-
Push the eyelet, button top or snap through the provided hole. You can hold it in place with your finger or with the tweezers from your tool kit. Flip the paper over so the top of the fastener and the front of the page are face down on the setting mat.
-
Center the setter in the opening of the fastener and hit the setter with the hammer until the base of the fastener spreads and flattens out. Once the back of the eyelet or button top is fairly spread you can remove the setter and just hit the fastener with the hammer. That's it! You did it!
Setting Brads
- Make a small hole using a small hole punch or the pick from your tool kit. Push the brad prongs through the hole then separate and flatten the prongs with your fingers on the back side of your project.
